The name and the nature of the job

A coal hurrier or sometimes known to be a call drawer or a coal thruster is a frightening and straining occupation in which an individual, mainly women and children are paid to pull a cart full of coal through tunnels only sometimes as big as sixteen inches in height. Normally children would group together to push the cart with some at the back pushing the cart called thrusters helping out the hurrier at the front.
